The Godfather Chapters - Squirrely Shelly - Part 2

Squirrely Shelly was basically a friend with no hugs or any affection. Charlie would give her a hand with her minor house projects. Shelly was kind of off the wall with her ways, very kind hearted, but had her own strong opinions on things. She wanted you to walk on the grass instead of the sidewalk as you might get it dirty. If Charlie ever went for a walk with her on a dirt pathway, Charlie would have to walk behind her as not to get dust on her clothes. Charlie wondered if maybe it was early signs of dementia setting in or was it just her off the wall way of thinking.
One day Charlie was helping her with some painting the house trim and later he received a call from her and out of the blue she told him that he was a sexual preditor. Charlie responded by telling her that no one had ever said that to him in his life. And that seemed to be the end of that story that night. Charlie had no clue as to where she had come up with that notion.
Another night, he had a cooking date with her via a phone call. They each made a lasagna using Charlie's recipe, but each of them were in their own places. Strange that they did not get together to prepare the dish. That I must say was quite different.
Squirrely Shelly came out with the walking group a few times, but always ended up going off on her own leaving the group to look at each other trying to figure out why she didn't stay with the group. It made no sense to even join if you were not going to be a part of the group. Well, I guess she loved to be independent and liked the freedom to just up and change plans on the spur of the moment.
Charlie said that he kept her as a friend and feared that one day when she was put into a senior's home, they would be feeding her under the door. And so they just continued doing mostly the odd phone calls to this day. She remains as one of the Godfather's female friends although the communication dropped off as their personalities were so different.
