The Godfather Chapters - Charlie Gave Up!

Back to the Dating Sites and Charlie Gave Up!

And now Charlie kept returning to the dating sites to see what might come his way, but that would end.
Charlie went on the dating sites off and on and gave things a lot of thought and gave up. I asked Charlie to explain how he came to the conclusion of giving up. He said that it is pretty much impossible to find someone at this age and there were many reasons as to how he calculated the hopelessness of the task of finding a good partner.
The good ones were already taken. The rest had baggage of their past relationships. Charlie said that with good communication, it is possible for both parties to deal with it.
Most of the ladies were now single and independent around Charlie's age and just wanted it staying at the friend's level. This is what Charlie discovered after he learned of what the original godfather had learned as well. Charlie was tramatized from his two divorces and could not afford to recover from a third divorce. If it stays at the friend's only level, you are likely to keep your friend for a long time. If it goes to a romantic level, it is highly likely to come up against some future obstacle and then it would be goodbye. There seemed to be an advantage to just being friends. Charlie figured that you could then have many female friends and enjoy a variety of personalities without any romance involved.
Most of the ladies either had kids or pets to replace a partner and if they had a partner, their kids and pets would be more of a priority. A partner would be low on the priority list.
Most of the ladies had a variety of interests that did not match Charlie's interests. So long as most interests were similar, things should be okay. No one is likely to match 100% in everything.
Charlie said that since he didn't fly, so that would be quite a deal breaker with many women.
Charlie thought that he also snored and that surely would scare ladies away from being with him.
Charlie asked me if I read his chapter on how to please a woman? I said no and Charlie said it was the shortest chapter written as it had two words, "You can't!"
Charlie also admitted that he didn't seem to have the patience that he had for so many years. If one of the possible ladies where to rag on him, Charlie would quietly head for the door, show himself out and never to return.
Charlie said that over the years, he faced a lot of rejection and that finally was wearing on him. He was no longer able to give 100% so it wasn't fair for him to be with anyone anymore. He could only imagine that the ladies would all be in the same boat not able to give 100% like they could have at an earlier stage in life. And that was the way it was now. Having said all of that, it appeared that the answer was to just give up and create your own path and be happy along the journey.
