The Godfather Chapters - Enter Squirelly Shelly

And this curious lady appears... She was attractive, but seemed to be all over the place. She would walk her dog past Charlie's place and chat for a bit. Charlie said that she was worth a second look, but her personality was quite different. In the middle of a conversation she said that she is running late and has to dart off somewhere and yet she seemed to take her time in the conversation. She asked Charlie a number of times to come over to help her with some of her house maintenance. She seemed to take an interest in Charlie, but if Charlie were to try and give her a hug goodbye, she became skiddish and darted back a few feet very quickly. I guess something from her past had surfaced. Well, Charlie being the easy going guy he is just said a good bye and headed off back home. Charlie thought that he should keep her as a friend since it appeared that there was no family in the city so someone would have to look after her. That quote by Rumi kept coming back to Charlie. "We are all just walking each other home." And who would be walking Charlie home as he just had his one son left in Denver. Maybe Charlie would find a nice younger woman one day? I know that was a question that was always in the back of his mind as he continued to age. And at the same time as I watched Charlie, I had to ask myself the same question. I had no family either. What do you do? One day at a time would be the way we lived life in that area.
